Vesper Young
About
Hi there! Vesper here. An author website should have an “About Me” page, right? I’m never quite sure what to put here—information about me as an author, a writer in general, or a person, so I figured I can tell you all three bits.
As an author, I made my publishing debut in 2019 with Real Love, Fake Marriage, and have been publishing contemporary romance ever since. I write a mix, with some billionaires and some small town heroes, but thus far all my books are interconnected standalones. This means, some authors make cameos, but every single story can be read as a standalone. All my stories have three things in common: humor, steam, and a happy ending. I’m a bit on the lower-drama end. Inevitably, my heroes are head over heels for their women, and there is lots of cuddling, banter, and heart. And usually at least one scene where they eat together because sometimes I get hungry writing.
I’ve been writing for a lot longer than I’ve been publishing. I spend a lot of time in my own head, just telling stories. There’s so much “grimness” in the world sometime, I just like to imagine people living happy, love-filled lives. This has taken many forms, but romance is a huge part of this.
And then we get to me as a person. I’m a city girl (Boston, to be exact) who can be charmed by small towns so long as they’re fictional and I’m not starving and trying to find a restaurant open at midnight. I’m an avid reader, and not ashamed to say 99% of what I read is romance. The 1% is other books friends recommend to me that I give an earnest effort before rewarding myself with another fake dating book. I prefer cooking to baking, with my specialty is eggplant parmesan (Source: multiple friends said “This is good” with only slightly strained smiles). I love dogs, though funnily enough as I write this, I realize in seven books not ONE character has owned a dog… I’ll need to fix that. I absolutely love meeting new people and learning what people do. It’s not necessarily stuff that’ll make it into a book, but I did once learn my Lyft driver’s day job was covert diamond security transfers (Note: he explained it in much more accurate terms) but it was really freaking cool and he assured me if for any reason someone started following us, this was the exact car to be in.
I think about that guy a lot. Tragically, he was already married. (His wife is a kick-ass nurse.)
